I haven't been in the guild as long as my brother Rotten, but I feel compelled to throw in my 2 cents. The cursing and joking around didnt bother me or Rotten at all, but there have been times, and recently it has been new guildies especially, that have taken things way too far. Just the other night, a couple of our guid members were saying some racial jokes. What's worse is alot of our members are young, so I am not going to talk about sex to some 14 year old kid who lives in Canada or wherever. I don't have anything to add to a conversation on why someone's parents are "fags" because they can only play WOW for 2 hours a day. I really enjoying playing WOW, and I have come to make some good friends in this guild. I especially like how we greet each other when we log on (it's feels like walking in a neighboorhood bar), and I think it's really nice how we welcome new members. So anyway, there it is. Yes, I should say something when I feel that folks are getting carried away, but I feel that I'm not paying monthly to be a virtual nannny for some kids that are just talking shit. I wanna play and have fun with my friends, with my guild members. And in the end, that's what it's all about.

You don't often say much, D2D, but when you do, you say it well. I think we are going through some growing pains as a guild (I don't know if you've noticed, but we've grown a LOT lately). Some of the changes that come with this will be good, others will be bad. With so many people coming in, a lot more people are chatting over /g all the time. And I'm not innocent, by any stretch of the imagination, in some of the BS that gets going, but I do like to think I'm not so bad as I used to be. This isn't about me, or any one person, I know.
Good post, D2D, and I think you've summed things up nicely.
I am gonna miss the Rotten Log though.

5: No blabbering/random nonsence to a certain extent/loitering in our guilds nonloitering zones/ or extremely harsh or offensive topics on guild chat.
That was an original starting rule for this guild and i think me+rest of guild shoudl start following it again....we can keep the same guild feeling we all have..but without the conversations d2d mentioned...like the guild used to be.
This guild realy is growing not jsut member wise but level wise, lets not let it fall apart like TSG did.

I suspect that people might be behaving a little better when I'm around sometimes... though I doubt there is much to be done about that.

I know I shape up when your around. Normally I am talking about... well lets just say it invloves an avacado, an ice pick, and a cat. Yeah.
But seriously, I have never really noticed anyone act different when your around as opposed to when you arent. You must just not strike fear into their hearts. Your like new testament, warm and loving.
Old testament would be like back in the day when Mal got pissy:
Mal: "Hey <insert random player here>, what trade skills are you?"
Waits 3 WHOLE seconds
Mal: "Hey, are you listening to me?"
Waits 5 seconds this time
Mal: "You had better answer me!"
Waits 10 seconds
"<random name> was booted from the guild by Malthorn"
Now THATS terror, baby!

Bumping for top post. Rule added not because we've had any trouble with it, but rather that I think it would be better to establish a zero tolerance for such things ahead of time.

I think you should add the "added" stuff to the bulleted list, so someone doesn't just scan it and miss the bottom stuff.
Zrog
PS - This is something Purg did a few months ago - all new members are required to post in this thread and acquiesce (agree) to the guild rules. That way, no one can say "I didn't know about the rules" or "I didn't know we had a site". What you think?
