I was playing in battlegrounds the other night, and a rogue back stabbed me and killed me from full health with that hit.
I was already talking to Malthorn about it and he has also had tat type of experience, but I was wondering if anyone else has too. If it has, has it only been with a rogue, or have mobs done it to you also?
Go squishy!

They probly crited you..and u cant do anything to stop them form doing that. But More often then not if you arnt dead after that first hit you will be stunned or something. If that happend si instantly blink and ocne i can move again do a mana sheild to get a small chance to start doing some dmg...if you got presence of mind and pyroblast....this is a good time to use it along with frost nova...and all the AOE u got. I dont have presence of mind so i ussualy am dead in these situations lol....

Cold Blood + Ambush FTW.
Any squishy will be hurting in a big way after that. . with the exception of the Demonology specced locks. . who honestly make me wet my pants. . seriously, they just DoT me and watch me try to kill them before their DoT's take me down. . more often then not, they are laughing at my grave.

if i have some rage i will charge to generate some more ms strike rend change to beserker stance pummel execute
this usually brings them close to death, and if they blink away im already in zerk stance so i just intercept and finish them

Well, I don't think it was a crit, since it also happened three times in total, and from differenet rogues.

Cold blood makes the next ambush, backstab, sinister strike, or eviscerate an auto crit, so yeah, they are critting you. Also, to extend a little on what McG said, from my two days of experience with demon spec, rogues are a lot easier than they used to be but it's still something of a nerve wracking experience. I very much enjoy giving them a run for their money though. Being something of a stamina whore I've never had a problem with one hit kills. Not to say that rogues couldn't tear me to pieces in seconds, it just took them more than one hit while I was stunned.

Not only, that, Ipit, but Improved Ambush gives +45% to crit. Most rogues have at least 15% standard crit, so Ambush crits 60% even without Cold Blood. And if the rogue has Remorseless Attacks, like I do, they get a +40% buff to crits after a killing blow (which is pretty common due to well-timed eviscerates) . The real fun thing is that Ambush, thistle tea, backstab, backstab is a viable combo that can deliver 3 very powerful strikes in less than two seconds, and will kill most casters right out.

I am just delighted to see a whole thread on how to kill mages. I chose the right toon for my 1st character!

One way to help stop this from happening..or to give you a better chance at least is to have your mana sheild going when you are sitting...drinking..or most anytime when you arnt with a ton others...if not always. When i used to do pvp every once in a while...id never run out of mana really...soits not liek losing some mana saving your ass is a waste or anything.

You got Ambush ganked. Ambush hurts.... A lot. It happens. It sucks.
A few options to prevent it from happening in the future:
1) Always have Mana Shield running. It won't save you from a rogue 1 on 1, but it'll buy you time to Blink and run to some friends. At the very least you'll get to catch his name.
2) More Stamina gear. Combined with Mana Shield, makes you a little harder to take down. Still squishy, but not too bad. Also great from those PvE bosses that randomly say 'DIE!'. Stupid Domo.
3) Try not to be noticed. If your out in the open, flinging Fireballs and Blizzards at people, they tend to start thinking about killing the twerp in pijamas. Fireblast & Polymorph are good spells for not getting noticed, and staying behind a small group will help.

Mages = easy kills for a rogue, with one exception. AoE like mad. Keep it going so the rogue cannot stealth up to you. It doesn't have to be constant, but if you use AE or blizzard often enough, most rogues aren't fast enough to come in between hits. There are exceptions. . if the rogue has full camo and the PvP boots that make you move faster while in stealth and have a speed enchant on those boots, they can move faster stealthed then the rest of us can non stealthed. I'd love to try that some day. I fought Larry (Xolarim or whatever his name is) on Saturday before Molten Core. He had full DM tribute buffs and Dragonslayer, I still took him down both times. But because he kept the aoe up, I had to work for it. I fought Meltordor (retard from MM), beat him 3 in a row. He didin't do the aoe, so it wasn't much work. First fight, I lost 1/3 to 1/2 my health (which made me feel dumb and start to play right). Next fight, I lost 60 hp. The last one, I didn't lose a single HP. And while everyone else hates us for stun lock, I don't do that to mages, not worth it. I try to get in for the ambush, but if I can't get through the aoe I'll settle for a backstab (50% or so chance to crit). They frost nova then blink. If they are in range, I blind. If not, I vanish. If they are blinded, I simply wait 5 seconds and stealth again, ambush, they are if not dead very close to it. If I had to vanish, no big deal, it breaks the frost nova, and I"m stealthed again. If you don't put the aoe up again, I've got you dead to rights. What I hate the most are the mages who run from you hitting improved AE. .staying just far enough ahead that I can't hit them, but close enough that AE hits me. Course, we can combat that too. Sprint to catch up and BS, or blind. The only problem with mages is a fight with one of them usually requires me to use a cool down ability, if they have any idea what they are doing. Blind and vanish require 5 mins each to cool down, and both take reagents. Of course, I have preperation, so I can reset all my cool down abilities once every 10 minutes. And Malex, I don't care how much you try not to be noticed, if you aren't hiding, I"ll come for you
