I was thinking about respecing my mage and wanted to see if anyone had any input or suggestions. Right now I'm all fire but I was thinking of this as a final build:
Arcane:
Arcane Subtely 3/3 Arcane Focus 5/5 Improved Arcane Missiles 5/5 Wand Specialization 5/5 Improved Arcane Explosion 5/5 Evocation 1/1 Arcane Meditation 5/5 Arcane Mind 4/4 Presence od Mind 1/1 Arcane instability 3/3 Arcane Power 1/1
Fire:
Improved Fireball: 5/5 Ignite 5/5 Flame Throwing 2/2 Pyroblast 1/1
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

Ah good, Malthorn I was hoping you would respond. I'm been fire spec right now, but find I eat through too much mana and have a lot of downtime. I'm hoping that this build would keep me going a little longer. How are you speced right now, Malthorn?

Im arcane up to evocation and instant arcane explosion (5 improved)..and then the rest in fire including combustion. for dmg wise per spell its mostly fire > frost > arcnane......fire goes through mana faster but i like having huge hits....arcane helps you have alot more mana along with faster regeneration....and frost is sorta in between. I started all the way fire and added my little bit of arcane becuase i love AOE so i get Blast wave along with the instant arcane explosion. And evocation is nice....with it you make a few less mana breaks. Since we have our conjured water and food...ive never cared about drinking/eating alot...i just to kill fast...i like to hit who i want..when i want....HARD!.

Now that I think about it, I don't think any of the mages in our guild are "complete" arcane speced. I think I'll give it a try and see how it goes; I'll keep you posted on my success/failure.

So here's how my arcane speced adventures have gone so far: As you may have known, I've had some problems with Arcane Misslies not working. I spend the mana, the channal bar goes down, but the enemy takes no damage. The combat log records no damage, it's not like the enemy resists it, and since Arcane Missiles has a tendancy to lag a bit, I can't interrupt it to cast something else because sometimes it does work. Also, I find that I keep forgetting to use Arcane Explosion, as I tend to favor using a single target instant cast such as Fire Blast or Cone of Cold over most AoE spells (although I really like Blizzard). I was thinking or respecing to frost as I would still like to try something different other than fire. I was wondering if we had any other mages in the guild that were frost speced and would like to offer some advice. Although any other advise or comments from the other mages in the guild would be great too, I'm looking at you Malthorn.

Ipit, Im a fire mage so i can't help you with frost, but i know that Deathtodavid is a frost mage if you want to ask him. Also i have the same problem with arcane missles and its really getting on my nerves. I have been having serious thought about becoming a frost mage because ice barrier just seems so kickass, and I could do more damage at places like MC. But at the same time Ive been a fan of fire since I first started, and Ive played fire so long that I really understand it well. And I just cant give up combusion. Ash

Ash im the exact same with fire...i love it...the huge explosions and the combusion/pyro combo..which is why im staying fire even with MC every sat...why?...becasue MC is only sat nights..thats only 1 night of an entire week. Dont cross over ash...stay the way mages are meant to be

Here's my 2 cents...Frost mage is the way a mage was meant to be played. Mages are meant to hit, without getting hit. The frost spells, blizards, etc., really make that happen. There have been many times when I can kill multiple toons, or toons 2 or 3 levels higher than me without getting touched. My fireball is a heavy hitter, but I only use that when I'm set-up for a long cast, if not, I got a lot of other firepower that charges faster, if not instantly. Right now, all of my talents is in frost, except for 1 in arcane, which I did a long time ago. I sometimes wonder how I will do once I start doing PvP, since I know that there is anti-frost stuff out there, but at this level I have enough to chose from to try to work around those buffs. We'll soon see, as I slowly climb to 60 (man, it's taking forever!).

frost in pvp will rock for u, a lot of post-mc geared guys run battlegrounds which have fire resistances going
no one has frost resist on their armor, its not a big deal in pve
what u do have to look for are engineering items that will reflect your spell back on u.....and kamikaze warriors who will pummel u from behind (cough <mages suck> cough)

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't tried any PvP yet, but everything seems to be going fine in normal battles.
I would just like to add that improved blizzard and frosbite are a pretty fun combo. Cold snap is oretty nice when you need a an extra cone of cold of frost nova. Now all I need is some good +frost dmg gear.
Also, I figured it isn't really worth making another thread for, but does anyone know how many of our mages are trolls?...

Atm im making a huge setup for the HGA DPS area to help mages find gear for more dmg. I have it sorted into +dmg to all spells, +fire dmg, +arcane dmg, and +frost dmg...the gear i have shown starts at about lvl48 or so...so once i get it completed check it out and it will help you find some of the +frost dmg gear you want.
Btw..i only know of a few troll mages.and im not sure if any are in this guild.

I find that forst works realy well with itselfs as you get higher into the talent tree.
For example: Cone of Cold is an okay instant cast by itself, even though fireblast is better in pretty much every way. I find that the Piercing Ice talent (+6% frost spell damage) and Improved Cone of Cold (+35% Cone of Cold damage) really helps it out, making it as good as fireblast. Combine it with Frost Channeling (-15% frost spell mana cost) and Cold Snap (resets all forst spell cooldown) and I find it works really well, and I'm not even going to get into the whole freezing chance which increases crit rate thing...
I'm mostly posting this because I just wanted to let some of the other mages around know that frost is working out a bit better than I thought it would.
