Im trying to decide exactly what kind of priest i wanna make Tionik.
Ive thought of a few things: All out healer: Speced holy, has all +healing and mana regen gear, used for instances only.
Shadow Priest: I thought of this too, i figured maybe by the time i hit 60 Silicon would rather go healing again (though i doubt it) and i could handle the rouge healing and shadow vulnerability debuffing. My main reason though for going shadow instead was that our guild does still need more good enchanter that are online alot. For me to do the rep grinds for the harder enchants, id wanna be shadow.
As far as the shadow spec thing, if we get another priest in Razor that is reliable in attendance, knows how to play, and wants to do a proper raiding shadow spec (i.e. you better have Imp VE and all the aggro reducing talents by the time you start raiding), I would certainly be amenable to speccing back to healbot mode. I really like both playstyles well enough, and am most happy when I'm helping the raid in the best way possible.
Are you planning on making Tionik your main eventually? I'd imagine you'd keep bringing Malthorn on Razor runs, at least most of the time.
Silicon you make a good point that unless Tionik was going to every MC run, it wouldnt make sence to do the Shadow thing. Im thinking i may just stay shadow..but have my healing gear, and my shadow gear. I am really thinking hard about making Tionik an enchanter, and ill want shadow for the rep grinds.
I'm thinking of making a priest alt too. Although if/when I would hit 60, I'd definately go holy. Since I'd have a mage for dps, I'd like to dedicate my priest at the end to healing.
I'm thinking of making a troll priest, since I didn't want to roll an undead toon. I haven't determined if I wanted to make a male or female though, since if I made a male, I'd end up making him look just like Ipit anyways. I'll have to see what happens.
P.S. I was going to wait until the expansion before rolling a Bloodelf priest, but I don't think I want to wait that long.
EDIT: It also occured to me that I didn't actually give you any recommendations for your priest, Mal. While it's not a recommendation, I think I'll try a holy spec, just to see what it's like and let you know how it goes in case you were wondering how it goes.

I never did use DeDread as a full-shadow priest, and I think I missed out. However, I've never specced him full-holy/disc either... so
If you like running 5mans while leveling, I definitely recommend taking Silence... it's great for caster-pulls. That requires about 21 points in the Shadow tree, but you can get some pretty good DPS stuff there on the way up the tree.
I also recommend Holy Nova, now. I think Blizz finally took the crap out of the old skill, CRAPHOLYNOVA, meaning that Holy Priests now have a semi-decent AOE.
This... from... Mal... THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!
Whoever appeals to the law against their fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, “If I live, I WILL KILL YOU. If I die, you are forgiven”. Such is the rule of honor.
Well, I'm gunna start leveling Tion again, and I better get her to 60 this time!!! She's 53 right now, and allready has 100+ +dmg, and that will only increase as she lvls, because I still have some dmg gear waiting for her (mostly at 57). I'll worry about her healing gear sometime

I think with some more +%spellcrit gear, this might actually be pretty cool. You're not going to get big massive crits without lots of +dmg gear, but you're going to crit pretty often... (+10% spell crit from talents alone is nothing to sneeze at...)
