That blwoing stuff up they showed actually just involves putting some amount of one of the alkali elements into water, they react strongly, more so the further down the period table you go

Sarvis, "Alkali" is more the title of the metal based on their highly reactant status. that "Alkali" shit as you put it, could be one of many elements. If you wanna have some fun you should check out magnesium (Generally used in the production of sports car wheels I.E. corvette) If you shaved a bit off you could light that on fire, then pour water on it. It's funny =3

Again, I beleive M-80's are illegal as well (The designation of the "80" being to intend 1/8 the stick of dynamite. So in theory an M-1000 would be 1/100 the strength of dynamite and so on. Hope you're close to Mexico. please note I may be mis-informed)
