I was fighting a hunter in Winterspring, and got taken down really fast. Twice. I read on a few sites that a good strategy was to sheep the pet, then kill the hunter, but that did not work. On my second fight, I froze the pet and went after the hunter, and although it was a much closer fight, he still managed to get me. So I'm curious, what are some winning strategies out there for this type of fight?

Hunters. Very frustrating class to 1:1. Thier pet melees and the hunter just kits the whole...damn...time. <sigh>
As a rogue, I've tried blinding the pet then sprinting at the hunter with hope that a crippling poison will land otherwise...phfft.
What snaring / movement impairing abilities are at your disposal?

I would think that if you could get the pet sheeped you could take down the hunter, but I've never fought a hunter so I really don't know.

I used to do that to hunters: sheep the pet then out dps the hunter. Unfortunately with that patch that changed hunters which came out a little while ago, it's a lot more difficult to sheep the pet now.
Instead, I tend to sheep the hunter, kill the pet then go back to the hunter. It's a little more difficult but can still be done; as long as they don't keep stunning and silencing you.
Good luck guys.

I sheep the hunter and kill the pet....as the pet can do alot less dmg.
It takes longer but as im killing the pet i make sure to keep a close watch on the sheep..and resheep alot cus once they break it makes it rly hard to get anything off.

well, being a Demon spec'd lock, i can take alot of dmg and all my DoT's are instant cast, but i find that the most important thing other than, in one way or another getting rid of the pet, is staying close. they aren't much w/out ranged dmg. so if you stay close and use mana shield, it should be a quick fight.

getting in the hunters face is not always a viable option as they set traps
dueled a hunter a couple of times (soothsayer); first fight i got kited, 2nd fight i demolished his pet in 4 seconds to start with then sat down and let him kill me (kiting...grumble)
kiting......almost as bad as a pally bubble......grumble
