I just bought Nero for burning cds/dvds. It works great for that, but I don't want to use it for everything, ie looking at pictures, or viewing videos. I don't know if any of you are familiar with this program, or not. Input would be appreciated.

I don't see where the problem comes in if you don't want to do the other stuff. On a side note that program sounds vaguely farmiliar.

Nero's what I use for burning. I wasn't aware it could look at pictures...
Are you suggesting that when you installed the program it made itself the default program for that stuff? If that's the case, you can check whatever program you want to use to see if if has an option for taking over extensions.
Else you can try right clicking to open a file and select choose program from a list. Find what you want, and make sure to check 'always use this program to open this type of file.'

From any explorer window: Tools, Folder Options, File Types. You can change what programs are used to open what files from there. Alternatively, the programs you *want* to use may have options in them somewhere to take file associations.
Or what prune said.

I downloaded this series, but I can't figure out what to do with the files. Halp is what I need. These are the file types.
I have 2 .bin files, 3 Image Files, 1 IMG file, 1 SUB file and, 1 CCD file. The 2 .bin files try to open with my video player, but it says "can't render file type" and the 3 Image files go to my burning program when I try to open them. All the other files say that "windows can't open this type of file."
Any ideas?

.bin files are normally accompanied by .cue files. If they aren't there I'm not sure what they are. .ccd is a proprietary disc image format used by CloneCD.
Sounds like you've almost certianly downloaded a disc image, and it needs to be burned off or mounted in order to view it.

Yeah, thats what I thought too. I thought for sure that there would be a .cue file in there, but there is not. I don't think that it's a bad download or anything, because thousands of people have been downloading it, but I can't find any info on it. Do you think that if I burn the files that open Nero when I click them it will work? And what is mounting?

Mounting is accessing the disc image directly, rather than burning it to a physical disc. You'd get a new virtual drive letter that would access the file, rather than a real drive. There's a program called Daemon Tools that's pretty good for it.

Daemon tools is fun. I used it to reinstall Age of Mythology after I lost my original CDs.
What it can do is make a Virtual Drive that can read Image Files on your HD as though it were a CD in a real drive. Mounting is like putting the CD in the drive.
Neat, eh?

Fuck I don't know what to do. I got Daemon Tools working, and I started installing what was in the files. . .But everything is in moonspeak. About half way through, it spouts something at me, and wants me to pick a file path, but I get some sort of error no matter what file I choose. Man this is pissing me off. Thanks for trying though guys.

Alright, now I am getting pissed. Sorry to keep asking you guys about this bullshit, but in the last hour, I have been nailed by the blue screen of death twice.
This is what it says- DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
And BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : 00000006 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000 BCP4 : F7A25504 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1
This started happening about a moth ago, but I thought I had it fixed. But unfortunately I can't remember what I did, all I know is that it stopped. I was thinking that it may have been a internal temperature problem, I don't know where my motherboard is sitting temp wise, but my Graphics card is hanging around 130-150F. Is that too high? Any ideas would be appreciated. Vith, Prune, Fire. . .I am looking mostly at you.

I remember what I did! I used the Dell Driver Reset Tool. But I just ran it again, and the only problem it finds is that I do not have a driver installed for my Ethernet controller.

your graphics card might be running a little hot but myng has done that and it doesn't sound like that is it. After a little research (copy paste google ftw) it looks like the cause is when the driver verifier is dialing into a wrong address. It could also be a bad ram stick according to other sites flashing the bios may work. www.vladd44.com/other/irq_error.php More in depth instructions and such here with many other ideas. Vith may be able to analyze it better.
